Saving Grace Episode 29

“Grace exposes Sarah as an unfit mother, showing Anna as her true guardian. Sarah flees from arrest, and Anna risks everything to protect Grace again”.

Anna and Grace shared an emotional hug as the child recalled how she managed to get inside Carmen’s car without her knowing while Carmen was on her way to court. Anna worriedly asked her what she was doing there, reminding her that she wasn’t supposed to be there, but the kid reminded her that she said she’d come back for her.

The people in the courtroom were surprised at their bond and started whispering among themselves. Sarah, acting pitiful, approached Grace with concern and asked the child if she was fine and whether anyone had hurt her, or if Anna had hurt her. But Grace told her not to fight with her mom, Anna.

She reminded Sarah about giving her to Anna, but Sarah quickly denied it, upset with the kid for lying, and had to be taken away by an officer. Jessica took advantage of the situation by requesting the judge to let Grace testify, saying she could shed light on the whole situation.

Anna asked her not to do that as it would only traumatize the child. Jessica explained that it would help her case, but Anna refused to let Grace testify. Grace intervened, pleading with Anna to let her testify, but Anna insisted she didn’t want that. The child explained that she could handle it and that all she wanted was to protect her mother. Sarah, watching them, fumed with anger.

Later, Jessica informed Anna that the judge had granted Grace permission to testify and assured her they would make sure the child didn’t get traumatized. Charlie wondered why Grace wasn’t with Anna, but Julius explained that Grace was considered a k!dnapped victim and hence couldn’t be with Anna. Carmen apologized to Anna for her carelessness.

Meanwhile, Sarah was upset while talking to her attorney, wondering why her kid wasn’t given to her. The attorney explained that the court had ordered child services to take care of Grace. Sarah worriedly told the attorney they couldn’t, and the attorney replied that if she really wanted her child back, they’d have to prove in court that what Anna did was wrong.

She advised Sarah to look like the perfect mom so they would trust her and added that she should pray Grace wouldn’t speak against her. After learning Grace was with child services and how they were going to prepare her, Anna requested to visit her, but Jessica told her to follow the court’s order if she really wanted to win the case.

Grace was brought to the child services home, where she was warmly welcomed by Ms. Sally, who wanted to show her the room. But Grace said she wouldn’t need it because once she told the court how nice her Mama Anna was, Anna wouldn’t go to jail, and they’d be together.

Chito called Sarah from jail to apologize for hurting her earlier. She sobbingly told him how lonely she was and how much she missed him. She told him she had found Grace and that Anna was on trial. Once Anna was in jail, she said, she’d get his sentence reduced and promised to give him all her money.

Grace testified, mentioning that Anna had been her teacher. Although Anna was cold at first, she had been nice to her, giving her food and even combing her hair, something the other teachers never did. Sarah’s attorney asked Grace what her mom did for her, and after she mentioned them, the attorney asked if her mom loved her.

The child replied, “She loves me, but…” and before she could finish, the attorney cut her off and said that was all. Grace explained that she hadn’t finished, so the judge permitted her to continue. Grace then explained that she thought her mom loved her, but she wasn’t sure about it. When asked why, she said she didn’t feel Sarah’s love.

Tearfully, she explained what Sarah didn’t do for her as a mother, and whenever Chito hurt her, Sarah never protected her, which made her feel Sarah loved Chito more than her.

“She said I’m just a burden to her,” Grace added.

Sarah quickly denied it, claiming she loved her. She lied that she always protected Grace against Chito and always fought with him to protect her, but that Grace just didn’t see it. Hearing that, Grace questioned Sarah about the bruises on her body and showed them to everyone.

Sarah angrily told the child to take back her words, insisting they weren’t true, but Grace revealed in front of everyone that even Sarah hurt her. Sarah kept denying it. After the trial, Helena wanted to know whether Grace’s testimony would prove Anna’s innocence, and Jessica explained that she wasn’t sure but that Grace had given a strong testimony, making her Anna’s hope.

She further added that they had to be prepared for every possibility, as Anna could still go to jail since, in the eyes of the law, she still k!dnapped the child, even if she did it in good faith but she hoped the judge would see that saving Grace was Anna’s motive. She said the sentence could be 6–12 years, but Anna didn’t care, even if she was sentenced to life in prison, as all she wanted was justice for what happened to Grace.

Thinking her testimony could set her mom free immediately, Grace happily told Anna about Ms. Sally’s home and said she wanted her and her mama to stay there. She cheerfully shared all the things she could now do and couldn’t wait to have Anna there.

She held Anna’s hand so they could leave, but Anna stopped her, telling her that since she was fine now, she didn’t need her (Anna) anymore. The child was taken aback and nervously looked around at everyone. Sarah was furious with the turn of events and demanded her attorney do everything to ensure she didn’t get investigated and could get her child back.

She denied all of Grace’s claims, but her attorney told her she needed to clear herself of the allegations if she wanted custody of Grace and warned that child abuse was a crime that could lead to prison time. Grace tearfully told Anna how much she needed her, but Anna insisted Grace didn’t need her anymore.

Seeing how stubborn the child was, Anna was forced to tell her that she didn’t love her anymore and should go with child services. The child refused to believe it, crying and yelling that Anna loved her and vice versa as the social workers dragged her away. Anna broke down, unable to bear what had just happened.

Sarah approached Anna as she was being taken away, reminding her that they weren’t done yet. Anna countered that they were far from done, as Sarah still had a case to face.

“You really don’t know me, Anna. Grace is mine. Even if you bring my daughter to hell, I’ll get her back from you,” Sarah warned.

“Then let’s see each other in hell, because I’ll do anything to protect Grace,” Anna countered, and Sarah attacked her, forcing others to pull her away.

Sarah’s attorney later informed her about an ongoing investigation that didn’t look good. She said she had received a tip that a warrant would soon be issued for Sarah’s arrest and told her to prepare. Julius asked Jessica for advice about adopting Grace, but she told him it wouldn’t be easy and explained the long process he’d have to go through.

She added that his connection with Anna made things even harder. Julius explained that he only wanted to help Anna, and Jessica assured him there were other ways he could help her. He apologized to Jessica for hurting her, and she also apologized, saying she was partly to blame for their situation.

She  hoped they could forgive each other for everything and remain friends. The police arrived at Sarah’s house but couldn’t find her. Meanwhile, Anna’s family visited her, and they were having a joyful family time together, even expressing excitement about seeing her free soon.

Julius, panicking, came to them and informed Anna about the search warrant for Sarah, who had escaped. Sarah went to the children’s home where Grace was and found the child sitting alone, drawing. She tried everything she could to open the door and get inside but couldn’t and grew even more furious.

Elsewhere, Anna was being transported in a car, remembering Julius informing her about the police’s failure to arrest Sarah and Sarah’s warning about taking Grace away. The car’s tire was punctured, and Anna took advantage of the situation, grabbing the cop’s guñ.

She pleaded that she didn’t want to do this but asked the officer to hand her the key. She unlocked herself and managed to escape.

“Rivera, Sarmiento escaped!” the cop yelled as the other cop chased after Anna.
