Saving Grace Episode 20

“Miranda battles a secret illness while Sarah and Ashley’s schemes destroy Anna’s reputation, forcing Anna to plan her escape with Grace.”

Sarah furiously stormed into Helena’s inn, accusing them of running away. Matty couldn’t believe she had come again and told her to go home. Sarah then saw her scandals being broadcast on TV, showing her attacking Anna’s family and being suspected of having something to do with her daughter’s disappearance, especially after Chito’s involvement in Grace’s kidnapping for ransom.

She watched angrily. Miranda wanted to tell Jessica the truth about Anna being her sister but decided against it after seeing how much hatred Jessica harboured toward Anna. Miranda was then struck by devastating news when her doctor informed her that she had been diagnosed with colon cancer.

She asked how serious it was and was told she was already in stage 4, as it had spread to her liver. Trembling and in tears, Miranda said there was still so much she needed to do since she hadn’t made it up to her daughter yet, so she couldn’t die. When Miranda returned to her office, Carmen was thrilled, congratulating her and saying she was happy that everything had finally fallen into place.

Seeing Miranda’s gloomy expression, Carmen asked in disbelief what more she could possibly want. Sobbing, Miranda replied, “Time.” She said she still hadn’t patched things up with Anna, who didn’t yet know the truth. Carmen comforted her, assuring her that she would tell Anna eventually.

Not ready to share the sad news, Miranda asked to be left alone. She broke down, overwhelmed by what life had thrown at her. Meanwhile, Oscar was being reprimanded by a senior officer for failing to make progress in Grace’s k!dnapping case and only returning with Sarah as a suspect despite pursuing Anna for so long.

Oscar tried to explain himself, but the officer refused to listen and ordered him to gather everything he needed to close the case. He insisted that someone needed to be sent to jail soon. Ashley sarcastically congratulated Miranda after hearing that she had signed a new contract making her the head of the department.

“So, I guess you better behave, Ashley. I’m your boss now,”

Miranda reminded her. Sarah showed up, and Miranda was surprised to see her in Manila. Sarah explained that since Anna’s family had already left, she came to continue her search. Miranda reminded her that bothering them wouldn’t help. Sarah couldn’t believe Miranda thought she was bothering them and demanded to know if that was why Miranda had aired her scandal on her show.

“You made me look like a villain,” she complained.

Miranda calmly explained that she only showed how brave Sarah was — how far a mother could go for her child. But Sarah argued that Miranda had made her look violent and aggressive toward Anna’s family. Miranda insisted she only wanted to make the k!dnappers fear Sarah to make them see they were dealing with the wrong person so that they’d return Grace.

Sarah still didn’t believe her, but Miranda persuaded her by suggesting that if Sarah wanted to clear her name and win public sympathy, she needed to tell the truth about Chito.

“Miss Miranda, are you saying I should betray Chito?” Sarah nervously asked.

“Before he drags you down with him. You want to find your daughter? You need people’s sympathy. How can you do that if I’m the only one who believes in you? Think about it, Sarah,” Miranda replied before walking away.

Sarah later went to Chito’s hideout to talk about Anna and her family’s disappearance, including Oscar snooping around her area. Chito asked why she hadn’t sought Miranda’s help, and she mentioned Miranda putting her on her show and siding with Anna blaming him for it.

Instead of defending himself, Chito asked if Miranda was the only one who could help her. Sarah then called Ashley to ask if her offer to help her still stood. Elsewhere, Oscar continued his investigation and spoke with one of Chito’s acquaintances, who revealed details about Chito’s behavior.

The man showed Oscar Chito’s truck, and when Oscar checked inside, he found the sack Chito had used to hide Grace, stained with blood. He immediately called for a DNA test to confirm if it was linked to Grace. Meanwhile, some kids spotted Grace and instantly liked her.

After chatting with them, one of the kids dropped a book, and Grace tried to return it. She ended up staying outside their classroom, watching them study with their teacher. Anna found her there and scolded her, reminding her of the danger. Grace quickly defended herself, saying the kids were nice.

Anna worried that if she was  recognized or the kids called the police, they’d be in trouble. Grace asked if all people were bad, naming Lucy, Julius, and Miranda as good people who understood them once they knew the truth. Anna, upset, said not everyone was like them. Grace countered that not everyone was dangerous.

“Not everyone is trustworthy,” Anna reminded her.
“How will we know who’s kind if we don’t trust anyone? How long do we have to keep running and hiding?” Grace asked. She told Anna she just missed doing things she used to do like going to school.

The next morning, Anna took Grace to a school since that’s what she wanted but reminded her to be careful and know what to say if anyone asked questions. The child was so happy she began kiṣ̌sing Anna all over her face in gratitude. Meanwhile, Ashley went live on social media with Sarah to let her share her side of the story.

Sarah tearfully talked about the viral video of her attacking Anna’s mother. She said she had tried telling Miranda her side, but Miranda wouldn’t listen. She then lied, claiming Miranda told her not to inform the police, or they might go after Anna.

Ashley consoled her, saying she didn’t deserve such injustice, and revealed that Miranda was protecting Anna because Anna’s ex was Karamay’s producer, Julius Hernandez. She said she discovered the truth during her trip to Palawan and ended the live broadcast by declaring that Anna caused her father’s death.

When Miranda saw Ashley’s live stream, she immediately called HR and ordered her dismissal, stating that what she did violated her contract. Helena then came to the company demanding to see Miranda. When she did, she confronted her about Sarah’s live video ruining Anna’s name.

Miranda explained that it was on social media, beyond her control, but assured her she had already fired Ashley. Miranda demanded to know what really happened to Antonio and why Anna was being blamed.

“Then why does Anna feel like it’s her fault?” Miranda questioned.

Helena, realizing Miranda knew where Anna was, demanded to know her whereabouts, but Miranda refused to say anything. Helena accused Miranda of hiding Anna, and Miranda reminded her how long Anna had been with her — questioning if Helena had ever truly been a good mother to her.
Ashley refused to back down after learning she’d been fired.

She told Sarah that they were trying to silence them, which only proved that Sarah was right. She declared war against Miranda’s management. Meanwhile, Julius tried to console Anna, telling her not to dwell on what she saw and assuring her they’d find a way to fix things. But Anna wasn’t worried about herself since she was used to people speaking badly of her.

What hurt her most was that Miranda and Julius had been dragged into her mess. She told Julius she couldn’t stay in the Philippines any longer, as she’d always live in fear, and wanted to proceed with her trip to Hong Kong. She asked Julius for one last favor and that’s to help her with Grace’s papers. He agreed but told her he was coming with her.
