“Chito denies abusing Grace despite mounting evidence. Grace begs Anna to be with her, and Anna decides to take matters into her own hands by k!dnapping her.”
Chito, still in police custody, was told about his crimes involving a 12-year-old who was so severely hurt he spent 3 years in the hospital. Chito defended himself, saying the kid was a thief. The police then showed him another file where he kicked a 4-year-old for playing in front of his house because the kid was noisy.
Seeing how he defended himself, he was asked if that’s how he treated Grace. He lied, saying he treated her like his own, but the police reminded him about social services reports. He listed the things they had heard he had done to Grace, but he denied everything, saying he couldn’t prove it.
Grace told Anna about Pipo and how Chito ate it. She started crying because Pipo was her only friend. Anna asked if that’s why her mom hurt her, and the girl nodded. Anna promised she wouldn’t hurt her since she wasn’t her mom or uncle Chito. Grace then asked if Anna’s mom had also hurt her, a question that triggered Anna’s memories.
She remembered being happy with her family until a boat trip where her sister’s doll fell into the sea. Anna fell while trying to grab the doll but was saved by her dad. Anna hugged her mother while saying”sorry”, but was pushed away. Helena also remembered the unfortunate incident that happened that same day.
Past
Helena blamed Antonio for having a child with another woman and leaving her to raise the girl because she struggled with childbirth. Antonio begged her to keep it secret since Anna believed Helena was her mother. Helena insisted she would tell Anna, but Antonio thought it would only hurt her.
While arguing, Helena accidentally pushed him, and he hit his head on the boat before falling into the sea. That was also the same moment Anna fell. Princess later blamed Anna for Antonio’s death, thinking he died only after saving her.
Present
Miranda questioned Sarah about Grace. Sarah said that as a mother she would never stop hoping her child would return, no matter what others thought. Miranda mentioned hearing of Grace’s neglect. Sarah, crying, admitted she wasn’t perfect but insisted she was a good mother, pointing out the love Grace had for her.
She begged Miranda to help her find her daughter. Miranda reassured her she would. Anna and Grace then went to Quezon, to Grace’s dad’s aunt’s house, but learned the woman had died three years ago. Anna asked if Grace had other relatives, but the girl told her it was okay if Anna needed to go back.
When Anna asked where she would go, Grace said not to worry about her. Meanwhile, Chito came home furious that Sarah hadn’t shown up at the police station. Seeing Grace’s photos, he destroyed them, saying her face annoyed him and blaming her for his troubles.
He said the police suspected him because someone told a reporter he had hurt Grace, accusing him of abuse. He threatened that Grace had better stay away or she would be in trouble if she returned. Sarah showed him donation money she had received after her interview with Miranda, but this only angered him more.
Chito shouted at Sarah for doing the interview and called her stupid, warning that she could send him back to jail. Sarah defended herself, saying the reporters were already there and she had lost her job too. She assured him she had things under control.
Anna had a fever and was taken to the hospital. While at the hospital, they saw Sarah’s interview with Miranda and were left speechless. Julius criticized Miranda for rushing ahead with her interview without knowing the truth of Grace’s abuse, but she insisted they needed to be a step ahead and that the truth should come from their show.
Later, Anna told Grace her dad’s relative was gone and asked if she wanted to return to Sarah. Grace said Anna could leave her in Quezon if she needed to go back. Meanwhile, police questioned Chito about inconsistencies in his statements and bruises on Grace when she was last seen.
“I said I never hurt that kid! I’ve told you countless times! How many times should I have to repeat myself?” he yelled. Julius spoke with Patty, who admitted she and Anna acted quickly once they realized Grace was suffering but regretted not knowing sooner. Julius seemed taken aback after hearing Anna’s name.
The police pressed Chito to confess or risk rotting in prison. He denied k!lling Grace and claimed she was still alive. Anna suggested to Grace that maybe her mom had changed and missed her, but Grace shared how she used to blow candles in church wishing for her uncle to stop being mean and for her mom to defend her, but nothing ever came true.
She asked Anna if they could just stay together, promising to behave and take care of her. Anna warned she was strict, hot-headed, and would just scold her, but Grace, sobbing, said, “Even if you turn into a dragon teacher, it’s okay.” Anna told her to get ready because she was going to kidnap her. The episode ended with the two hugging and crying.
