Raul’s Skirt-chasing Leads To A Ripple Effect of Grievous Calamities. Lily’s World Is Turned Upside Down.
Raul takes Diego to Carmia’s place for his tutoring lessons, but when he sees Dante with her, he hesitates to approach her. Despite his initial restraint, Raul can’t stop thinking about Carmia, and his infatuation leads him to accidentally call Emilia “Carmia” during an intimate moment.
Emilia notices the slip-up and demands to know who Carmia is, but Raul brushes it off, denying any knowledge of the woman. At a high-profile party, Raul’s wandering eye gets the best of him, and he flirts shamelessly with one of the ladies accompanying the politicians.
Emilia’s anger boils over, and she’s able to intervene before things escalate further. However, her anger doesn’t dissipate, and she orchestrates a sinister plan, having the woman her husband flirted with mûrdëred on her way home. The Ardientes host a ceremony at the school to unveil a new building they’ve sponsored.
Raul sees this as an opportunity to meet Carmia, and when she excuses herself to the bathroom, he follows her, almost assaulting her. Carmia narrowly escapes his advances when someone breaks a vase, and Raul, fearing detection, quickly retreats.
Unbeknownst to him, the man who broke the vase is a colleague of Dante’s, who later informs him about the incident. Dante confronts Carmia about not telling him about the incident, and she’s forced to reveal the truth. She explains that she didn’t want to cause any trouble, but Dante’s anger and concern for her safety are palpable.
Unfortunately, Raul’s advances don’t stop, and he tries to abuse Carmia again when he finds her alone at home. Carmia defends herself, stabbing him with a kñïfe, and Dante arrives just in time to protect his wife. He threatens to sue Raul for his actions, and Lily and Diego witness the entire incident.
Emilia is furious with Raul, knowing that this incident could damage her reputation and give her rivals ammunition to use against her. Julio, too, is displeased with the situation and instructs Emilia to take care of it before things spiral out of control.
Emilia summons Dante to her office, attempting to persuade him to drop the lawsuit against Raul.
However, Dante refuses to back down, stating that he’s not afraid of the Ardientes and will see justice served. As he leaves Emilia’s office, he’s offered a cup of coffee, which turns out to be poisoned.
Dante suffers a heart attack on his way home and dies after a car accident. Emilia and Raul attend Dante’s wake, and Carmia accuses them of being behind his death and kicks them out. Carmia’s grief is overwhelming, and she becomes inconsolable.
Weeks later, she finally tells Lily to pack up their belongings, deciding it’s time to leave Poblacion. Lily goes out to process her emotions, asking her father to help Carmia cope with the tragedy. However, as Carmia’s packing, Emilia’s goons appear, assaulting her mercilessly.
When Lily returns home, she finds her mother covered in bruises. Carmia tells Lily to run away, but Lily refuses, prompting Carmia to shout at her to leave. As the goons pursue Lily, Carmia distracts them, allowing her daughter to escape.
With her last breath, Carmia begs the men not to harm Lily. Lily runs to the police station, desperate for help, but when they arrive at the house, Carmia is nowhere to be found.
