Sayali gives her mangalsutra. Paresh asks what she’s doing, reminding her that a married woman doesn’t remove her mangalsutra—it’s a sign of her marriage—and tells her to wear it back. Sayali tells him not to worry, saying her husband Sachin is with her. She then asks Sachin to tie a black thread around her neck. Sachin does so.
Paresh reacts, “You will wear thread instead of mangalsutra?” Sayali explains that she can’t wear gold due to their financial status. She says it’s about her self-respect and her father’s honour. Her father has worked hard to give them a good life, and it’s her responsibility to uphold his dignity.
Paresh asks Renu if she’s satisfied now. Renu says she only made a point and accuses Sayali of doing drama, insisting she wear the mangalsutra. Sayali refuses, saying that her relationship with Sachin isn’t tied by a gold chain—any thread tied by Sachin is a mangalsutra for her. She says she’ll only wear gold jewellery bought with Sachin’s hard-earned money. They will work together, and until Sachin buys her a gold mangalsutra, she won’t wear one. She adds that this thread is enough for now.
Sayali says Aaji gave her the earrings she’s wearing and tells them they have no right to question her. She warns that if anyone insults her father or family, she won’t stay silent and knows how to give a proper reply. She walks away. Sachin follows her. Paresh smiles and glances at Renu. Renu is furious.
Sachin tells Sayali she gave a perfect reply to Renu and assures her he’s with her. Sayali gets emotional and hugs him. He comforts her and jokingly asks her to make a list of gold jewellery she wants—even if it’s up to 50 tolas, they’ll buy everything slowly. Sayali says just the mangalsutra is enough. Sachin agrees but still asks her to write the jewellery list so he knows what to aim for. She nods.
Sayali starts making a list. Sachin reminds her to include her bangles, which she had mortgaged. He says Renu was taunting her a lot. He wishes he had money to buy her jewellery immediately but mentions he also has EMIs to pay and wonders how they will manage. Sayali assures him she’ll help too.
Sachin tells her not to burden herself and says he just wants to know the budget. He reassures her they’ll buy everything eventually, maybe even invest in chit funds, though they’re risky. He decides they’ll deposit money in the bank instead and promises to deal with Renu. Sayali says that’s why she challenged Renu—her husband will get her everything she deserves.
Sachin teases her about her anger and asks if she’s done making the list. She confirms. He jokes that he asked for a jewellery list, not a grocery one. He promises to buy the mangalsutra this month and the rest of the items later. Then he gently tells her that next time she wants to challenge someone, she should talk to him first so he can be prepared. He urges her to smile and lighten her mood. Sayali smiles. He kisses her and leaves.
Renu recalls Sayali’s words and vows to throw her out of the house. The next morning, Sayali prepares breakfast. Renu comes and asks her to boil some water for Riya, who will be late for work otherwise. Sayali says the electricity will be back soon. Renu argues. Sayali boils the water and calls out to Riya. Riya thanks her, explaining the geyser isn’t working due to a power cut. Sachin observes silently. Renu stops Riya from taking the hot water and tells Sayali to take it instead. Sachin continues to watch.
