Jhanak recalls Anirudh’s words and thinks to herself, Your words have no meaning. I will move on. You insulted me, and I will not tolerate it. I will go away and never come back. Meanwhile, Anirudh reflects, You thought I would be sad, but I am so happy. You won’t catch any flaw in my acting. If anyone insults me, I will insult them back.
Dadu asks Baren what he has decided. Baren replies, “I haven’t spoken to Meenakshi yet.” Dadi assures him, “You can ask us anything, and we will answer you honestly.” Mrinalini thinks I won’t marry Choton. I need to explain this to Dad. Baren asks Mrinalini to go out and meet everyone. She replies, “No, I’m fine here. You can talk to them in front of me.”
Dadu says, “Our families were so close. You used to play with Choton during childhood. My mother used to see you two and say…” Dadi interrupts, “Mrinalini will get shy.” Dadu continues, “My mother used to say your pairing is perfect and that she wanted to make you our daughter-in-law.”
Mrinalini says, “I will go out and meet everyone. We have to leave in the evening.” Dadi encourages her to go, and she leaves, thinking, I won’t marry Choton.
Dadu asks Baren, “Isn’t it enough that Choton is my son?”
Dadi adds, “We like Mrinalini a lot, and Choton is honest.”
Baren admits, “I like Choton, but he has become strange.”
Dadu inquires, “What did he do?”
Baren explains, “He is taking Sanyas.”
Dadi expresses surprise, “We don’t know anything about this. I will talk to him.”
Baren asks, “How can I get my daughter married to Choton? She is educated, has a good job, and is happy.”
Dadi says, “I know how to change Choton’s mind. I will ask Mrinalini if she has a way.”
Baren questions, “What can Mrinalini do?”
Dadu responds, “He made a big decision, and nobody knows about it.”
Baren acknowledges, “I also wanted Mrinalini to settle with Choton. I don’t mind if he earns less since Mrinalini earns well. But if he’s becoming a Sanyasi, how can I agree to this match?”
Dadu insists, “He can’t take this decision.”
Baren says, “He can decide for himself.”
Dadu defends Choton, “He is the best among my three sons. He loves everyone.”
Dadi adds, “He may earn less, but he takes care of us.”
Baren remains firm, “His decision to become a Sanyasi is too big.”
Dadu says, “I will talk to him.”
Dadi states, “He can’t become a Sanyasi without my permission.”
Baren concludes, “I can’t give Mrinalini’s hand to him.”
The next morning, Dadi and the ladies arrive for Anirudh’s haldi. Bipasha asks Jhanak to hold the Haldi bowl. Dadi asks, “Where is Anirudh?”
Anirudh arrives and notices Jhanak. Dadi jokes, “Will you forget me?”
He replies, “Can I forget you, Dadi?” and takes her blessings.
They dance to a song, and everyone claps. Jhanak smiles. Lal asks Anirudh to come along, but Dadi says, “I won’t send Anirudh so soon.” She applies Haldi to him.
Lal calls Choton to join them, but Choton refuses. Dadi continues with the rituals, while Jhanak looks on.
Anirudh thinks I will perform every ritual perfectly.
Jhanak silently wishes for his happiness.
Dadi asks Anjana to come for the haldi rasam. Anirudh asks, “Where is Appu?”
Dadi replies, “She will come.”
Bipasha asks Choton, “What’s the matter?”
He answers, “Nothing, you all enjoy.”
Anjana and others apply haldi to Anirudh.
Dadu and Bablu watch and talk about how quickly time has passed.
Shubh arrives and reminisces about their childhood. Dadu laughs and agrees, “Childhood days were the best.”
Shubh remarks, “You have a son and two daughters. Anirudh will soon have grandchildren for you.”
Dadu says, “I don’t know how long I will live.”
The family asks him not to say that and hugs him.
Dadi asks Jhanak to apply haldi to Anirudh.
Bipasha encourages her, “You can apply as much haldi as you want and then get ready for Arshi’s house.”
Tanuja adds, “Dance and singing are still left.”
Jhanak replies, “It’s fine.”
Tanuja insists, “We’re asking you to apply haldi to Anirudh. Do it.”
Anirudh thinks, Please don’t apply haldi to me.
Jhanak eventually applies the haldi, and they share an intense eye lock.
