Hernan found Mario on the floor and brought him to the hospital.
Mayumi and Luisa arrive but Mario died since the doctors were not able to restitute him. Mayumi cried her dad died on her birthday as she and Luisa cry seeing Mario’s dead body. Hernan watched them through the curtains and apologized to Luisa for not rushing Mario to the hospital earlier and the company will cater for his funeral expenses but Louisa thanked him for his help.
Hernan got angry with Brenda for coming to his work place to get Mario fired and he died because he was too stressed from losing his job but Brenda said she only did what she needed to do to protect her family. Isabelle tells Hernan to stop shouting at her mother.
At Mario wake, the company workers hand over Mario’s things to Luisa and she also gets to know that Brenda went to the company to get Mario fired and that might have triggered his heart attack.
Mayumi gets her birthday gift from Mario that he left behind but the book she wanted from him was not there.
Mario found the book that Hernan bought for Mayumi in the truck and decided to go give it to them since he was on his way to wake. Brenda arrived and asked to go with him to the wake.
When Mayumi fell asleep she had a dream about her dad Mario telling her that he left a gift for her in the book he bought for her.
When she wakes up she tells her mom about the dream and insists on getting the book.
Hernan and Brenda arrive at Mario’s wake but Luisa attacked Brenda and told her Mario was in good condition since he was taking his medication but she had him fired and Brenda said she only did what she needed to do to protect her family because Mario could have caused an accident because of his condition.
Luisa was so upset that she kicked Brenda out of the wake, Brenda leaves with Hernan so he didn’t get the chance to give the book to Mayumi.
At home, Hernan tells Brenda she was wrong with her actions at the wake but Brenda said Luisa is at fault.
Later, Isabelle saw the book and wanted it but Hernan said it’s for Mayumi since Mario bought it for but Isabelle gets angry and gives him the book. The lottery ticket fell out of the book and Hernan picked it up.
Hernan then checked the news paper and noticed that Mario won the 120 Million pesos jackpot and breakdowns down in tears telling Isabelle their life is about to change, he then remembered the ticket belongs to Mario and not him so he became conflicted whether to give it back to Luisa or not.
Brenda noticed Hernan is always in deep thoughts so asked Isabelle if her father told her something and she mentioned to Brenda that Hernan becomes happy after seeing some winning numbers in the paper and Brenda checked the numbers and doesn’t understand why Hernan is acting strange.
After much thinking Hernan decided to do the right thing and give the ticket to Luisa so he visited where the wake was held but they missed each other and he didn’t see them.
As Hernan keeps looking for them he watches the news about the winning ticket numbers and they are still waiting for the winner to claim the 120 Million jackpot. Luisa and Mayumi watch the news about the jackpot too.
Hernan looks for Luisa’s phone number since she has changed her phone number, Brenda overheard him on the phone and gets upset he is looking for Luisa.
Luisa and Mayumi bury Mario’s ashes in the cemetery. Mayumi tells her she needs the book since her dad said it was important.
Isabelle arrives to see her parents fighting and leaves. Hernan tells Brenda he wanted to return the book to Luisa since Mario bought it for Mayumi. Brenda took the book and threw it away when the lottery ticket fell, Brenda picked it up and compared it to the numbers in the newspaper and found out about the 120 Million jackpot.
Hernan tells him the ticket is not his but Mario’s so he wants to give it to Luisa because that’s the right thing to do but Brenda refuses to give back the ticket to them because they need it more than Luisa so she won’t allow him to give it back to her.
She took the ticket outside and Mario chased after her to get it back. As they struggled over the ticket it flew away and Luisa picked it up asking if they were fighting over this paper.
Luisa brought Mayumi to Herman’s house to get the book that Mario bought for Mayumi. She gives the ticket back to Brenda without reading it and Brenda warns Hernan to not say a word about the ticket.
Brenda asked Luisa why was there and accused Luisa of trying to sedu¢e her husband so Luisa left without telling them why she is really there. She then tells Mayumi to forget about the book.
Brenda believes Hernan will claim the jackpot since he didn’t say anything to Luisa so tells him it’s a good decision since he will be able to support his family and also start a business since they need the money more than Luisa.
After much convincing from her Hernan decided to claim the money so Brenda decides to go get ready so they can go shopping once Hernan claims the money but Hernan left without her. Next Episode of The Step Daughters Wednesday Episode 3
