Emilia Becomes Fixated With Securing Her Place In The Senate. Ivy Plots To Crush Her Ambitions.

The news of Julio’s rapid recovery sent a wave of distress through Emilia as she received the call from his doctor. She confided in her aunt Claire about her fears of being overshadowed by her father’s return, recalling the harassment and abuse she suffered at his hands, as well as his attempts to undermine her mother’s authority and claim the senate seat for himself.

Emilia remembered how he used to beat up her mother, and the thought of going back to those days filled her with dread. Determined to take matters into her own hands, Emilia met with Senator Pablo, spinning a tale about Julio’s deteriorating health and his inability to return for the election. She hoped to garner the senator’s support for her own bid to replace Julio in the senate.

Emilia told Senator Pablo that her father was getting worse and wouldn’t be able to return in time for the election, and the senator agreed to convey the news to the party. However, Emilia had ulterior motives, hoping to get the senator’s backing for her own senatorial bid.

Senator Pablo remained noncommittal, promising to discuss the matter with the party. Emilia’s excitement was palpable as she shared the news with Ivy, who appeared to be supportive. “I have some good news,” Emilia said, asking Ivy for wine to celebrate. After Emilia left, Ivy confided in her nanny, Carlota, revealing her true intentions.

“We need to stop Emilia from joining the senate,” Ivy said, “because she’ll have the power to manipulate the justice system, and it’ll be harder to send her to jail.” Ivy’s plans weren’t limited to Emilia; she also instructed Jepoy to gather more evidence against Emilia, as what they had wasn’t enough.

Jepoy had Arthur admitted to the Aguas hospital, where he was recovering, and Ivy asked him to meet with Emilia’s former bodyguard, who would likely be on their side. Meanwhile, Emilia celebrated her potential victory with a dinner party.

However, the evening took a turn when Arnaldo learned about Emilia’s bid for the senate. He had been hoping to take Julio’s place and felt betrayed by Emilia’s decision. The tension between them was evident, with Arnaldo storming off without dinner. “It’s my time,” Emilia told Arnaldo, “you can run another time, you’re still young.”

As the evening drew to a close, Madrigal asked Arnaldo for permission to leave for Manila to visit his family. Arnaldo warned Madrigal to ensure he actually visited his family, implying that he wouldn’t tolerate any betrayal. Unbeknownst to Arnaldo, Madrigal had other plans, intending to carry out errands for Ivy.

Senator Pablo reached out to Ivy, inviting her to dinner to discuss Emilia’s bid for the senate. He revealed that he didn’t want Emilia to replace Julio and had someone else in mind. Ivy, however, had her own agenda.

She met with her people to discuss the land issue, and they informed her that the land was never donated to the farmers because the Ardiente who donated it never signed the deal. The land was now in Arnaldo’s name, and Ivy vowed to take care of it.

In a separate encounter, Dolfo, the man who had tried to hurt Ivy, asked Diego to accompany him to her house, supposedly to deliver a vegetable basket. Buchoy tagged along, bringing flowers and a letter for Ivy. Diego took extra care getting dressed for the visit, and his nanny teased him about his crush on Ivy.

When they arrived, Ivy was about to leave for a meeting with Senator Pablo and didn’t have much time to spend with them. Buchoy handed her the letter and received a kiss as thanks before leaving. Diego jokingly mentioned that he had competition for Ivy’s affection, and Ivy dismissed him after a brief conversation.

The senator told Ivy that he wanted Arnaldo to take Julio’s spot in the senate instead of Emilia, whom he deemed too reckless. Ivy agreed to support Arnaldo’s bid, provided she didn’t get caught in the middle of their rivalry.

She demanded the land title for the farmer’s land, currently in Arnaldo’s name, as a condition for her support. When Natalie visited Arnaldo’s office, she surprised him by saying that her father wanted him to take Julio’s place in the senate, contradicting Emilia’s claim.

Ivy arrived during the meeting, and Natalie tried to leave, but Arnaldo convinced her to stay wasn’t possible due to other commitments. After Natalie left, Arnaldo asked Ivy to support his senatorial bid and offer him the funds she had promised his grandfather. Ivy agreed, but only in exchange for the land title.

Arnaldo hesitated, suspecting Ivy’s motives might be tied to Diego, but Ivy assured him it wasn’t about her affection for his brother. As Arnaldo retrieved the deed from the house, Emilia saw him but couldn’t get him to reveal what he was doing.
