“On the night the moon turns red, the child of the most powerful vampire and the Chosen She-wolf will defeat the evil of the vampire with the cursed ink. The prophecy will never tell lies.”
Some rogue vampires discuss about Lemuel Ruiz, a famous DJ who’s currently in Manila for a concert in BGC. They deem him worthy and a good addition to their ranks. Andrei offers to be the guy’s sponsor, to turn him so to speak, and the others taunt him over how his prospects barely survive. Meanwhile, Malia wakes up to discover that Jake has brought her to Manila. She stares in amazement at the splendor of the city.
Malia worries about the danger outside the camp and Jake assures her that no vampire can smell them where they are, adding that he had brought her because she’d said earlier that she wanted to vanish for a while. Malia asks the number of times he’s been in the city and Jake reveals that some of the things she gives her doesn’t come from the Luna soldiers.
“Like the telescope.”
“You’re sneaking off,” Malia says dubiously. “Wait, isn’t that forbidden?”
“It’s forbidden to you guys,” Jake taunts. “But me…I’m the son of Frederick and Veruska.”
Malia scoffs. “Showoff. Let’s go back.”
“Whether we return now or later, we’ll still get scolded. So let’s enjoy the moment.”
A client brings a van to the workshop for Tristan to fix so he could drive some guys to a concert. Before Tristan can make a move, his aunt Summer badmouths him to the client, stating that he could make things even worse. Meanwhile, Malia has a talk with Jake, reflecting on how peaceful her life would have been had she not been the Chosen One. Jake points out that if things hadn’t turned out that way, they wouldn’t have met and she wouldn’t be his friend.
“The two of us are destined to be friends,” Malia states. “Maybe if mother were here, my wounds wouldn’t hurt this much because she would just blow on it.”
“What if I tell you that…I know where your mother is buried?”
Malia looks on in disbelief. While Summer reveals her intention of chasing the client away earlier – so they could have the guy rent her jeepney – Malia bombards Jake with questions about his disclosure and Jake reveals that it was supposed to be her birthday gift had she come into her powers last night. Malia then urges him to tell her where her mother is buried. Meanwhile, Tristan gets behind the wheels to carry out his aunt’s bidding, only for a group of mourners to fill up the jeepney.
“I’m so sorry for bothering you,” a woman wails. “We had a death in the family.”
“It’s fine,” Tristan says. “I actually feel like crying with you. I’m so sorry for your loss,” Tristan laments.
“We already lost someone and you’re joking.”
Jake gives Malia the directions to her mother’s final resting place. They soon come upon a taxi driver and he asks him to take Malia to the Holy Family Cemetery, and then bring her back. The driver is reluctant and Jake pays him upfront and offers to go with her. However, Malia argues that it’ll be dangerous for him since the vampires can smell him.
Jake smells himself. “I don’t smell.”
“You’re starting to be funny,” Malia teases.
“Just be careful, okay?”
“Thank you.”
Tristan drops off the passengers at the Holy Family Cemetery and the head mourner asks him to wait for them while they carry on to mourn and bury their dead. Somewhere nearby, the driver drops off Malia and charges her to be quick, lest he wouldn’t be able to take her back. Malia passes by the jeepney Tristan is currently taking a peaceful nap in. In no time, she finds her mother’s casket in the crypt of the mausoleum and proceeds to grieve, lamenting over how much she misses her.
At the LLU camp, Baristo, Lydia and Catleya spot the Lord Sentinel coming over to their tent and they deliberately avoid him. A moment later, Frederick comes looking for Malia and Lydia covers for her, claiming that she isn’t feeling well. Frederick insists on talking to her either way. He heads into the tent where Baristo sits over Catleya who’s hiding under some sheets and pretending to be Malia.
Baristo and his wife desperately try to talk the Lord Sentinel into letting Malia rest, saying that she hasn’t woken up after the beating she took last night. Unfortunately, Frederick sees through their ruse and discovers the truth – he’s shocked to realize that Malia had left the camp with Jake.
