“You’re always taking out your anger on Romina. Even when she has nothing to do with your problems. And now you’re okay with being used by Daniela? Can’t you think for yourself?”
Cassie was glad that she had tried out for the talent test despite not giving her best. She expressed her appreciation to her mom and everyone else for their support. As they fell into a group hug and took selfies happily, Marga who was coming in with Mikoy looked on sadly. Kristoff complimented Cassie on her painting though he hadn’t seen it. “I’m sure it was beautiful,” he said. “After all, a beautiful lady painted it.”
“I can’t tell if you’re just trying to flatter me,” Cassie replied.
“I’m telling you the truth this time.”
The police came to invite Romina to the station for questioning regarding Jessa. Meanwhile, Carlos consulted with his attorney, determined to push through with the annulment. At the precinct, Romina had a war of words with Kulas and Daniela concerning Jessa’s death. Marga set out to have a talk with her grandpa but her mother wouldn’t let her.
She asked whether she was keeping another secret. Daniela put on a show as Marga expressed how disappointed she was in her.Romina, with Bernard, debunked all the allegations against Mina. Meanwhile, Carlos confronted his wife and father for making things worse by filing a case against Romina without any solid evidence.
“You’re always taking out your anger on Romina,” Carlos said to the miserable one-eyed old man. “Even when she has nothing to do with your problems. And now you’re okay with being used by Daniela? Can’t you think for yourself?”
The miserable swine almost got physical. Go figure. On account of how Daniela had crossed her, Romina vowed to prove her innocence and find out what really happened to Jessa. Meanwhile, nanny Esther left Carlitos in Marga’s care while she went to buy some food at the market. Kristoff asked Cassie about the people who had operated the hotline during the time of the search for Robert.
“Me,” Cassie began. “Uncle Neil, miss Bonita, nanny Esther and Marga.”
“Say Marga?” Kristoff said in disbelief. “She was there too?”
And then it dawned on Cassie. “Yes, she was. Maybe she knows something.”
“So you think she got to talk to miss Jessa?”
“She might have, Tope. I need to talk to Marga.”
A moment later, Cassie went to the Bartolomes to question Marga about the phone call with Jessa. Marga played dumb and after kicking her out, she couldn’t get Carlitos to stop crying. Turned out that the baby was choking on it’s toy. Marga hurried out for help as Cassie was about to leave with Jepoy.
Next stop, the hospital. Team Romina was out to find evidence to prove Romina’s innocence in Jessa’s death. Arriving at the hospital, Cassie took Carlitos from Marga and carried him to a doctor to be treated.
Marga then called her dad and informed him of the situation. At an office at Freedom Park, Romina found a worker who had seen Jessa with a man and another pregnant lady at the park that fateful night. Later at the precinct, an officer gave Romina the sketch of the woman the witness had identified. “Mr. Kulas,” Romina began, showing him the sketch. “Does this woman look familiar to you?”
Kulas stared at Daniela in disbelief. “You?” he said, pointing at the sketch.
“Without a doubt,” Mina taunted.
Marga was glad to hear that Carlitos was now safe. Meanwhile, Romina revealed the second sketch to be that of Hector’s. She taunted Daniela, advising her to think carefully of the lies she was going to tell the police. Marga thanked Cassie for her help in Carlitos’ safety.
She then apologized and admitted to having received a call from Jessa that fateful night. Taking into account Romina’s mocking insinuations that Daniela could run away, the police resorted to confining her in the waiting room. Mina soon had a call from Cassie.
“I spoke to Marga,” Cassie began. “She said she got a call on the hotline. And she told Daniela about it.”
Marga was wondering who Carlitos’ real parents were since they were likely to be in a better position to take care of him. Kulas confronted Romina, asking how much she had paid the witness to testify against Daniela. Mina put him in his place, reminding him of how Danny girl had a talent for twisting the truth.
“You’re lying.”
“No, I’m not. Cassie spoke to Marga. And Marga has admitted that she received a call on the hotline. And she told her mother about it.”
“And who says that was Jessa?”
“A witness saw Daniela with her. If you don’t believe me, have your daughter-in-law investigated.”
Kulas confronted Daniela about the recent findings, but of course she denied everything. Once home, she slapped Marga for telling that she had met with Jessa. Marga stormed out. At Kulas’ house, Carlos got into an argument with his dad over how he was allowing Daniela to play him for a fool. Coming upon the scene, Marga stormed off. Cassie came home with Marga and asked her mom that she allow her stay for a while since she had nowhere to go. Romina looked on in disbelief.
“If you’re against it, I won’t force you to let me stay,” Marga said.
“Wait,” Romina noted as Marga turned to leave. “Did you eat yet?”
Marga shook her head.
“Stay a little while then. I’ll cook something for you.”
Daniela threw a fit after finding out that Marga was at Romina’s. Meanwhile at the Mondragons, Marga was met with a warm reception after waking up from bed as Cassie had her try the food they had prepared for New Year’s Eve. Kristoff had been invited by Cassie to the Mondragons for New Year’s Eve. Mikoy was happy to tag along, though surprised was he to learn of Marga staying with the Mondragons.
The Mondragons tried out the horns Bonita had bought. Marga joined in the fun as they blew it.
Daniela stormed in to demand for her daughter’s return. Marga refused to go with her though. Kulas snooped around the archives of the police and found the address of the witness in Jessa’s case.
Meanwhile, Marga excused her mother’s physical abuse towards her but Romina gave her a talk about her mother being in the wrong for hitting her. Marga thanked her for everything. She had a talk with Mikoy, mentioning how surprised she was at how her aunt and Cassie had accepted and helped her despite everything.
“I guess that’s how it is,” Mikoy said. “They’re still your family after all.”
“Sometimes I wonder who the bad people really are. The people I thought were mean are actually far from it.”
The doorbell sounded just then. “Marga, you have guests,” Romina announced. Carlos came in with nanny Esther and Carlitos. He asked that they leave but Marga suggested that he stay if he really wanted to be with her. Mina said she was fine with it.
“5…4…3…2…1. Happy New Year!!” The Mondragons, Bartolomes and co celebrated happily as they wished each other a happy new year. Marga thanked her dad for staying, wishing that things would get better for their family.
Cassie came over. “Marga. Happy new year,” she beamed.
“You too.” The episode ended as Romina looked on with a contented smile as the girls smiled at each other.
