Roman cuts off his son’s protests, even as the investors mention that they can wait for a year or two before deciding, no need to rush. Roman snubs them and walks out on them. A moment later, Carlos approaches him at his office and asks how he had known that they wouldn’t pull out their investments.
Roman states that they had obviously been bluffing and looking for a way for them to renegotiate their contract: he hadn’t begged because they as De la Vegas never beg. Roman likens the situation to playing poker and using clever tactics to overcome one’s opponent.
Carlos thanks his father and proceeds to return to work.Gabriel takes Olsen and a couple of his other companions fishing on a canoe, only for Putot to accidentally fall into the river. Gabriel and Olsen dive in to rescue him. Bianca is interviewed about her career as an athlete and she’s asked if Isabel is her biggest competition.
As Isabel stares daggers her direction, Bianca replies in the negative and states that an athlete’s toughest competition is oneself and not other people. Isabel glowers – if looks could k!ll. The Villorias have Putot admitted at the hospital and Lola Lydia laments over their constant stream of bad luck. Gabriel promises to find a way to help out and refuses to let the challenges bring them down.
Roman has a talk with Carlos and Isabel about the millions of money they’ve spent in launching and marketing Bianca as TigerShark’s endorser. As expected, Roman laments over how there’s still no increase in sales and when Carlos asks for a little bit more time, he declares that he wouldn’t let him handle his other businesses if TigerShark fails to bounce back.
A moment later, Isabel ridicules Bianca because of their low sales after she’s just received her salary, stating that she’s still not an effective endorser even after all the help Carlos had given her. In the meantime, Gabriel is compelled to use the money he had saved up for school to pay Putot’s hospital bills.
Olsen worries about how he would be able to continue his studies and Gabriel notes that there’s still a few weeks left for the next semester and he might have better luck in Manila. Gabriel proceeds to seek for employment in a company in the city but he’s turned down and asked to come back after he’s gotten his degree.
He continues with his job hunting and manages to convince a mango seller at the market to hire him at least for the day. The woman agrees but only on the condition that he would be able to sell every single mango for the day. Eventually, Gabriel surprises her by doing exactly that so she gladly agrees to employ him at her stall.
Bianca sadly informs her family about the situation at TigerShark and though distressed with it, she remains determined to keep on with the fight and not give up. After convincing Olsen to go with him to work in Manila, Gabriel informs his grandma about his decision and they say their goodbyes to each other.
Later, Bianca talks to him on the phone about her trying situation at TigerShark and when Gabriel asks if there’s anything he can do to help, she states that it’s enough that she listens to her. Gabriel also brings up his situation and they both promise each other not to give up. Victoria makes a futile attempt to talk Roman into celebrating their son’s birthday tomorrow.
Gabriel arrives in Manila with Olsen and they come across a store where Bianca’s photos headline some magazines. Gabriel is excited to see that the dreams of his dearest friend are starting to come true. Since the magazine is too expensive for him to buy, he ridiculously decides to take a photo of it with nothing but his mere physical eyes.
Bianca arrives at TigerShark to find the boss in a very bad mood. When she asks about it, she comes to learn about his upcoming birthday and how his father treats him. Gabriel arrives at the market with Olsen to work at the stall of the mango seller and since they can’t afford to rent yet, they have no choice but to find a place to sleep at the market.
The next day, Bianca decides to organize a birthday celebration for her boss and Maila can’t seem to understand why Victoria isn’t the one doing it. Speaking of, Victoria has dinner with her son and offers to throw him a party later tonight but Carlos tells her that there’s no need to.
Vicky then gives him a watch as a birthday present from his father who’s supposedly sorry that he couldn’t make it. Ironically enough, Isabel also prepares to throw Carlos a surprise birthday party, confident that he would definitely show up. Derek isn’t so sure.
Carlos dumps the watch he had received from his father at where he kept the ones from the previous years. He soon receives a phone call from Simeon who makes him believe that Bianca hadn’t shown up for training because she has a problem. Carlos hurries to the Agbayani residence, only to walk right into the surprise waiting for him.
Along with her family, Bianca sings Carlos a happy birthday song and they proceed to dine together. Carlos expresses his utmost gratitude to the family and doesn’t mind that the food isn’t much. Ben goes on about how his mother Victoria is like a daughter to them.
On this account, Carlos is always welcome at their home. Isabel sets the table after preparing a feast fit for a king and personally baking a cake herself. Eventually, she pathetically sends Carlos a text message and asks him to come to her place and help her because she supposedly has an emergency.
While Gabriel and Olsen get into contact with the family they had left behind in Zambales, Maila expresses her utmost appreciation to Carlos for all the help he’s rendered her daughter and family. She recounts her friendship with his mother Victoria and how she had a lot of suitors back in the day.
Maila makes mention of a persistent suitor of Victoria and the scene cuts to a prison cell where a much older Rigor gazes at a news article of the object of his obsession, all the while bossing his fellow inmates around. After the party, Ben asks his granddaughter if her boss is courting her and Bianca tells him that they’re just friends.
Ben is skeptical so Jay Jay jokingly mentions that Gabriel is the one his sister likes. Gabriel and Olsen go in search of an affordable place to rent but Jojo the landlord of the compound is reluctant to give them a discount. Carlos thanks Bianca for everything she’s done for him and she goes on about how she sees him like a close friend and a big brother.
Isabel sits dejectedly at home with her red dress and lipstick and eventually realizing that Carlos won’t show, she heads into her room and cries her heart out. As fate will have it, Olsen gets his phone stolen and Gabriel relentlessly pursues the thieves and manages to catch them with a little assistance from the local watchmen.
Jojo the landlord notices this and for some reason, he approaches them and agrees to give them the unit for a lower price, saying that he can use Gabriel’s running skills. Maila asks her daughter whether she has any feelings for her boss and Bianca replies in the negative and states that she’s only trying to make it up to him for all his help.
The next morning, Gabriel pays Bianca a surprise visit at the training facility. Isabel confronts Carlos at the office about how he had let her down, only for Simeon to show up with a gift Carlos had asked him to buy. Carlos then ditches Isabel with the promise of making it up to her later. Gabriel excitedly observes Bianca as she trains on the running track.
Some fans of Bianca have Gabriel take a photo of them and as he’s about to share with her the mangoes he had brought, Carlos shows up and manages to convince her to accept his gift. After thanking him, Bianca accepts Gabriel’s mangoes as well and gladly decides to take them home.
Carlos gives Gabriel a look and begins grumbling about how he’s disturbing Bianca with his unwelcomed visits. However, Bianca begs to differ as she states that Gabriel is actually helping and not disturbing her. Gabriel takes his leave after exchanging goodbyes with Bianca.
Carlos subtly goes after him and demands that he stop bothering Bianca during her trainings. Gabriel says he had only been visiting his friend and as Carlos continues ranting, he keeps his anger in check and walks away.
