“No, no, no. Who sent this out?! Who?! I won’t let this slide, Marga. I won’t let you do this to my mother!”
Daniela told Marga that she was sorry that she had to see her fighting with her dad. She added that she couldn’t stand what Romina was doing anymore. Marga asked why they had to fight and Daniela told her it had just been a misunderstanding which would be resolved soon enough.
“Listen to me, Marga,” Danny girl whispered. “Whatever happens, your dad is innocent. He’s just a victim. I don’t want you to get upset with him.”
“So what’s the point with everything I’ve been doing?” Marga wailed. “I’ve been cleared of cheating at school. Mommy, I would do anything to be on top in school again, so I can make you and daddy proud of me. But what’s the point, if my family is falling apart?”
“The fight I had with your father is just temporary,” Daniela assured. “I can fix it. That flirt Romina and her daughter will soon be out of our lives. She is the cause of all our problems.”
“But how?” Marga asked, confused.
“Marga, we are Mondragons. We always win. Don’t worry, we’ll get everything back soon. Just continue what you’re doing at school.”
At Primarosa, Carlos had a flashback of the incident which had occured in the freezer room at the Camila warehouse. His boss came in and gave him the list of warehouses he would be visiting today. Carlos went through the papers.
“Wait sir, Camila will not be assigned to me anymore?” Carlos asked.
“It was assigned to somebody else,” the boss replied.
“Is it because of what happened at the warehouse?”
“I can’t answer that question, Carlos. Honestly, I don’t know either.”
“It was an accident. I only did what was required of me by the company. Sir, did someone request this?”
“Just follow your assignments, Carlos.”
Mryna went to the mansion to see Carlos and Romina told her he had already moved out to their new house with his family. Myrna asked if something had happened and Mina told her it was a good thing they had moved since Daniela thought there was something going on between her and Carlos.
Mryna told Mina that even though she hadn’t been around when Carlos was growing up, she knew that his father had raised him well and he wouldn’t do anything to destroy both their families. Mina then gave her the address for Carlo’s new house. Myrna had a dizzy spell and Mina asked her to sit for a while.
“Do you want me to bring you to the hospital?” Mina asked.
Myrna shook her head. “No, there’s no need for that. Am just tired, that’s all.”
“It’s always better to be sure. I can accompany you to the hospital. You have a serious condition. If we can prevent it from getting worse, we will.”
Myrna was taken by surprise. “You know about my condition?”
“Carlos told me about it.”
“You and Carlos are really close, huh? Am not surprised. You used to be a couple.”
“That’s all in the past.”
“Am glad Carlos would be able to raise a family on his own, even after what I did to them. Still, they’re doing everything to help with my treatment. They shouldn’t be worried about me since they have their own responsibilities now, especially since our family isn’t that rich.”
“I’m sorry,” Mina sympathized.
Myrna got up to leave and declined Mina’s offer to let the driver take her to Carlos’ new house.
“Hold on, Miss Myrna,” Mina said, going through her purse. She gave her some peso notes. “Here, let me give you something. I hope this helps with your treatment.”
Myrna eyed the money greedily, putting on a show of unease before accepting the money. “Thank you so much, Romina. This means a lot. You’re so kind. Thank you.”
Walking down hallway at Maxwell, Marga made a live video recording to her ‘Baby Dragons’, making an open invitation to form her new squad. She found Maureen by her locker.
“Marga?”
Marga stormed over to her. “What? You’re surprised to see me? It’s the other way round. Good riddance, Maureen.”
“Marga, believe me. It was really Nadya’s idea to move the test paper to your bag.”
“You still did nothing. It doesn’t matter anyway. You’re out of this school.”
Maureen was surprised. “Huh? I’ll be back, Marga. Am just being suspended.”
And now it was Marga’s turn to be surprised. “How did that happen?”
“The principal gave me another chance since I admitted to what I did. And am not the one causing trouble here at Maxwell anyway. This is my first offense too.”
“I can’t believe this,” Marga grumbled. “Nothing’s going right in my life.”
“Nica and Nadya got suspended too because they were accessories to cheating.”
“They deserve it.”
“Marga, am really sorry. I just wanted to pass. I didn’t know things would turn out this way.”
Marga rolled her eyes at her, shaking her head in disbelief. Carlos went to visit Kulas and his brothers. They asked why he was there and Carlos told them he had finished work early today since they had assigned him to smaller clients.
“Why, did something happen?” Jude asked.
“They took off the Camila account from me. I think Mr. Robert told them to do it.”
“Is it because of what happened to you and Romina?” Gino asked.
“I think Mr. Robert’s making sure Romina and I don’t see each other.”
Kulas seemed upset, but he was still silent.
“I don’t have a problem with that though,” Carlos went on. “I just don’t want Mr. Robert to think am up to something. Camila is a huge account. I just wanna prove myself to the company.”
“That’s it,” Kulas snapped. “He’s the one who has a problem. Why is he dragging you down? It’s his wife he can’t trust.”
“That’s enough, dad. Let’s not make a big deal out of this,” Carlos reasoned.
“I didn’t raise you to be like that, Carlos. Are you gonna let it go, huh? Are you just gonna let your father-in-law do that to you?”
“That’s not it, dad. It’s just that I owe Mr. Robert so much ever since my accident.”
Kulas sprang up to his feet. “Still, Carlos, it’s not right. Why? Is he still the president of your company? Is he the one telling you what to do, huh?
“Yeah, you owe him a lot, but it was by your merits that you got the job. You worked hard for it, so I want you to fight for the one thing you don’t owe him.”
Robert had a talk with the owner of Primarosa on phone. He thanked him for carrying out the favor he had asked earlier. The man told him that it was nothing compared to what he had done for his company.
“But I thought you said you endorsed Carlos because you wanted someone you knew handling your accounts. He is a good employee, Robert.”
“Am sure he is, and you won’t regret hiring him. But I think it’s better if he would not be connected to Camila anymore.”
Marga sat by herself at a table at Maxwell. Some cheesy, immature girls came along and asked if she had already chosen the new members of her squad. Marga eyed them silently.
“Why don’t you choose us? We’ll do anything for you,” one said.
“We brought you a gift,” another added excitedly.
The girls sat and one of them revealed that the gift was a dragon.
“She hasn’t opened it yet. You ruined the surprise,” the leader lamented.
Marga eyed them again. Slowly, she opened the gift box, and found a golden crafted dragon with her name inscribed on it.
“We even had it shipped from China,” the leader of the group revealed. “It’s customized.”
“It has your name on it,” the other said, and all three girls giggled.
Marga scrutinized them with her eyes. “Okay… you’re all from the computer club, right?”
“Oh my god,” the leader said excitedly. “You know us. So, we’re in?”
“We are the new squad!” one of squealed, and the others joined her.
Marga covered her ears with her hand as the girls kept on shouting in excitement.
“Wait, wait. I don’t think we’re on the same page,” Marga said.
The girls stopped screaming in excitement. “So, we’re not in yet?” the leader asked.
“You don’t like us?” one of the girls mumbled.
“Did we do something wrong?” another wailed.
Suddenly, all three girls started crying.
“No, no, no,” Marga said, trying to console them. By now, some other students were looking in their direction.
“Marga doesn’t like us,” one of them cried.
“Shhhh, don’t get me wrong.”
“She hates us,” another girl cried.
“She hates us,” all three cried together. “She hates us.”
Marga noticed the other students staring. “Stop,” she commanded. “Stop!”
All three girls stopped crying. At the same time.
“I’ve chosen you to be my new squad,” Marga announced.
The girls were all smiles now, their mouths clumped shut.
“But, you have to keep your mouths shut.”
The girls nodded vigorously.
“Until I tell you to speak.”
The girls nodded again.
Marga eyed them. “And I do feel that you’ll be loyal to me. But you still need to prove it. So, I’ll ask you to do something, which am sure would be a piece of cake for you. Do I make myself clear?”
The girls nodded. Their mouths were still clumped shut together.
“You can speak now.”
“Yes, Marga-dragon,” all three chorused, giggling to themselves excitedly.
Kulas went to the mansion to speak to Robert. He told Robert that he couldn’t let slide what he had done to his son. “You’re taking it personally, and you’re dragging Carlos into the problem you have with your wife. I can’t let you step all over my son. His work is already getting affected by it.”
“You know what, Kulas? I never wanted anything bad to happen to Carlos,” Robert stated. “So whatever his situation is at work, let him settle it with his own boss.”
“Maybe you just can’t keep your wife from going back to Carlos. That’s why you’re making him pay for what your wife did.”
Robert looked frustrated. “You know, Kulas? That’s enough. I even helped your son to get a decent job. Now if you don’t appreciate that, then fine.” Robert pointed a finger at the miserable one-eyed-old man. “But if I hadn’t done that, what would have happened to him? Think it over.”
Kulas stared back at Robert in silence. Cassie was walking around the school campus when she noticed the students staring at her. A girl came over to her and showed her a video on her phone, asking if she had seen it. Cassie was horrified. It was a trending meme – a $ëxually mocking video of her mother. Marga and her new squad stood up there, watching.
Cassie was hysterical. “No, no, no. Who sent this out?! Who?!” She glanced around the place and eventually noticed Marga standing up above.
Marga told her new squad that they had now proven their loyalty to her.
Cassie stormed over. “Marga.”
“Cassie. What happened? What was it that I saw?” Marga mocked.
“Did you upload that video?” Cassie demanded.
“There you go again, Cassie. With your baseless accusations. Poor Cassie. Now everyone knows who your mom really is.”
Cassie grabbed Marga’s hand. “I can accept whatever you do to me, but I can’t let you drag my mother into this because she doesn’t know anything about it.”
Marga tried to break free but Cassie held her hand tightly. “Let me go. Don’t you know what your mother did? For your information, your mother’s the one who ruined my family. She was flirting with my dad and that’s why grandpa kicked us out. Because your mom is one big flirt!”
For a brief moment, Cassie stared at Marga with eyes so wild and wide. Suddenly, she gave her a slap.
Marga touched her cheek, mouth open wide in shock. “How dare you?!” She returned the favor and soon, both girls were engaged in a catfight, pulling at each other’s hair violently.
Kristoff came running over. “Cassie. Marga. Hey.” He got between them and broke up the fight.
Fatima and LJ arrived on the scene, holding back a wild, ferocious Cassie.
“You messed with the wrong girl, Cassie!” Marga threatened as Kristoff held her back. “Believe me, this will not be the end of it!”
Cassie looked possessed. “I won’t let this slide, Marga,” Cassie shot back. “I won’t let you do this to my mother!”
Kristoff dragged a ranting Marga away while Fatima and LJ tried with all their strength to hold back Cassie who wanted to break free and go after her niece again.
“Let me go!” Cassie demanded. She managed to break free and she stared back at her friends with that wild, crazy look.
At Camila, Romina told Neil that she had done everything she could but they still had to suspend him until the investigation was over since it was a very big issue for the company.
“Am sorry. It’s better if you do what they say,” Mina said to him.
“When I got here this morning, they judged me as if I was a criminal,” Neil said. “But I don’t want something like that to happen. I don’t want them to think badly of you.”
“Neil, don’t worry about what others say, especially when you know deep down that you did nothing wrong against the company.”
“But you can’t blame me if I feel this way, right? I just want to know who sent those pictures to the legal team. I didn’t even know the guy I met was working for Tita Sardines.”
“Don’t worry. I know Robert believes you. And I would do everything to clear your name. I will not let them blame you for something you didn’t do.”
“Thank you Romina. Am really sorry for being such a bother. You’re going through a lot right now and here I am, being a burden to you.”
“You’re not a burden to me. Neil, you’re my brother, my family.”
Somewhere in the company, Daniela sat at desk with her bratty lãpdög.
“Calm down, Danny girl, it’s not like it’s the end of the world,” Savannah said to Daniela.
“No. It is the end of the world for me, Savannah,” Danny girl barked. “I did this so that I could stay in the mansion and then that Romina had to ruin everything. She keeps ruining all my plans. Now my relationship with my husband is also messed up.”
“Isn’t it for the best, Danny? If you had stayed longer at the mansion, the longer Carlos and Romina would be together, with more opportunities to be closer again.”
Danny girl was upset. “Stop it. And don’t even say this is all my fault.”
“No, that’s not what I meant. We all know your stepmother is a flirt. She and Carlos have history. You know what they say about exes – they can never be friends. If that happens, it’s either they never lövêd each other, or they still have feelings for each other.”
“That’s not true. Carlos has already moved on because of me. What does Romina have that I don’t?” A phone call came in and Daniela answered. “Who is this?”
“How can you forget me so easily, Daniela? My dear, do you really have to wait till I call you?”
“Just give me more time, Mr. Louie. They’ve been keeping me under surveillance. Don’t worry. I can still give you what you want.”
“Very good. But let me give you a little advice, Daniela; don’t wait for me to call you again, because this is the last time this will happen.”
Daniela slammed her phone on the table and Savannah asked if she was okay.
“Of course am not,” Danny girl snapped. “I need to find a way to get rid of that Mr. Louie for good.”
“Do you have a plan?”
“I always do.”
Neil was still in her sister’s office when Bonita came in and announced that Tita Sardines would be releasing a new campaign soon.
“What kind of campaign?” Mina asked.
“I don’t know yet. Let’s just wait and see.”
“Well, if the file is exactly the same as the one we used for bait for Daniela, then we’ll know she’s the one who really did it.” Mina turned to her brother. “And you wouldn’t need to pay for something you didn’t do. Everything will finally go back to the way it was before.”
Carlos complained to his father for confronting Robert and making matters worse. Kulas told him he wasn’t to blame because he had only tried to defend him. “You should even be thanking me.”
“Dad, am grateful for your concern but you shouldn’t have done that. You should have let me talk to him instead. Am not a little child anymore.”
“And let him step on you? Is that what you want? He has no respect for you at all. Do you even know how you got that job you have?”
Carlos looked confused. “What? I don’t.”
“See? That justifies what I did earlier. What does he think of you? He looks down on you. What are you planning now? Are you just going to let him do that?”
“No, dad. Let me take care of it. Don’t make it worse.” Kulas threw his hands up in frustration, and Carlos had a look of determination on his face now.
Robert complained to Mina, telling her that he didn’t understand why he was now seen as the bad guy when he was the one who had helped Carlos out.
“You know Mr. Kulas,” Mina said. “He is hot-tempered. But why did you do that?”
“Why not? Daniela’s my daughter, and I have to make sure she lives comfortably.”
“I know, but if you ask me, you should have talked to Carlos to know whether it was fine with him.”
Robert took offense at that. “Do I have to talk to the person am helping? I knew he would refuse, so I found another way. To make sure he could provide for his family. What’s wrong with that?”
Cassie arrived home and greeted her parents. Mina mentioned that she was late, asking what had happened to her.
“I just had an assignment I needed to take care of,” Cassie explained. “I sent you a text message and a picture earlier, mama.”
“Is there something wrong?” Mina asked.
Cassie stared back at her parents in silence.
“There’s a problem,” Robert said rather than asked. He glanced at Mina and turned back to Cassie. “Tell us.”
“Is it true you made Marga’s family move out?” Cassie asked. “Why, dad?”
Robert glanced at Mina again. “I didn’t force them to leave. We already talked about it before. They agreed to only stay for a while. Now they’re gone, so don’t worry about it.”
“But am part of the family too,” Cassie lamented. “That’s why I should know what’s happening to us.”
“Cassie…” Mina scolded.
Cassie ignored her mother and turned to her father. “Did you make them leave because… there’s something going on between mama and Carlos?”
Mina was horrified. “Who told you that?”
“Marga did.”
“Cassie, I just want to make this clear,” Robert began. “There’s nothing going on between Carlos and your mother. They moved out for the good of their family. And ours.”
At the new Bartolome residence, Carlos revealed to Daniela that her father had been the reason why he had gotten the job at Primarosa.
“What does he think of me?” Carlos grumbled. “That I cannot provide for you and Marga?”
“Carlos, don’t feel bad about it. Am sure he only wanted to help.”
“I already told you I don’t need his help. We already talked about that. He just insulted my dignity as a man. I’ll leave that job so I’ll not be indebted to him all the more. I resign first thing tomorrow.”
“Then you’re just proving that he’s right. You have to provide for this family.”
Daniela tried to convinced him not to resign untill he found another job since they couldn’t afford to lose any money with the situation they were in.
“Just for once, swallow your pride, Carlos.” Danny girl said.
“Am the one who was wronged here,” Carlos complained. “Now I can’t even face people at work because they think I got the job because of my connections.”
Marga entered the living room. “Mom, are you and dad fighting again?” she asked. “Is it going to be like this everyday? Ever since we moved to this house, all you do is fight, and I am tired of it.” She stormed away in annoyance.
At Maxwell, Miss Alfonso asked the class for volunteers to perform in the upcoming play. Fatima nominated Cassie for the play much to Marga’s annoyance.
“Is that okay with Miss Mondragon?” the teacher asked. No response. Cassie was deep in her thoughts. “Miss Mondragon?”
Cassie snapped out of it and stood up. “Yes, yes, ma’am.”
Marga then volunteered. Miss Alfonso asked the students to raise up their hands either in favor of Cassie or Marga. Cassie had the most votes.
“So it’s final,” Miss Alfonso declared.
“Ma’am, Kristoff should be Romeo, right?” a guy suggested.
“Yes, Kristoff will be perfect for the role,” another guy said. Soon, most of the guys were chanting Kristoff’s name.
“Okay, does everyone agree?” Miss Alfonso asked.
“Yes, ma’am,” they all chorused.
“Alright. We’ll have Kristoff and Cassie for this play.”
At the mansion, Robert and Romina shared a meal at a table. “I hope Neil is alright,” Robert said. “He’s like you. A bit of a workaholic.”
Romina seemed to be thinking, toying with the cutlery. “Uh, he’s fine,” Mina said after a while.
“It seems you’re in deep thoughts.”
“Robert, is it true what Cassie said? That you asked Daniela and her family to leave because of Carlos?”
“I’m just protecting our family,” Robert replied. “I don’t want you and Carlos to be seen in anymore compromising situations. You know Daniela doesn’t like that.”
“But you do believe there’s nothing between me and Carlos, right?”
“Romina, I løve you. And I believe you.”
“You need to trust me. What Carlos and I had in the past, it’s all gone now. I only have love for you and Cassie. I won’t do anything that can destroy our family.”
Back at Maxwell, Marga asked Cassie if she was happy now and Cassie told her there was no reason for her to be sad as long as things stayed peaceful. Kristoff saw them talking and he stopped and listened.
“Don’t be confident, Cassie,” Marga threatened. “The play hasn’t started yet so don’t be too confident that you got the role. Because just one wrong move, and am ready to replace you.”
Cassie smiled. “Marga, I’ll make sure that will never happen. Besides, you’re not fit for the role.”
“Ah, how pathetic. You can try to bring me down but I will rise again and get what I want. That role and the Maxwell Prime award.”
“Thanks for the warning, Marga,” Cassie said with her usual smile. “Because of that, I’ll do even better. Excuse me.” Cassie walked away and Marga stared after her in frustration.
Kristoff met up with Cassie by the stairs. He sat by her and put his hand around her neck. “Cassie, do you know how to deliver this line?”
Cassie seemed flustered. “Ah…”
“You know what? Fatima was right.”
“About what?”
“About the role. You both have a beautiful face.”
Cassie smacked his hand.
“Ouch, that hurt,” Kristoff complained and laughed. He pointed at a plant. “But I think this plant will be a better fit for the role.”
Cassie smacked him with her book this time. “There you go again, making fun of me. I didn’t even sign up for this.”
Miss Alfonso joined them and asked them to begin the rehearsal.
A moment later, Kristoff walked with Cassie.
“Cut,” Miss Alfonso commanded. “You should be holding her hand while you two are walking. Let’s do it again.”
Cassie and Kristoff retraced their steps.
“And… action.”
Kristoff took Cassie’s hand. He walked with her for a few steps.
Cassie looked like she was going to pass out from nervousness. “Ma’am!” she suddenly shouted, throwing Kristoff’s hand away.
“What’s the problem, Cassie?” Miss Alfonso asked.
“I need to use the toilet. I’ll be back soon.”
Kristoff looked disappointed.
“Sure. We’ll resume when Cassie gets back.”
“Thank you, ma’am.” Cassie ran off while Kristoff stared after her.
Later on, Marga told Kristoff that she wouldn’t let Cassie have the role since she had volunteered herself for it. Kristoff pointed out that everyone had voted for Cassie.
“You still want to be in the play after fighting with Cassie?” Kristoff asked.
“Are you blaming me?
“We all know Cassie. She wouldn’t do that unless provoked.”
“Of course you’ll take her side. Whatever I did to her, she deserves it. Her mother is destroying my family. I have to protect my mom.”
“Why do you always have to get involved? If your parents are having problems, then let them solve it themselves. They can fix their own problems. They’re adults. You shouldn’t make things worse.”
“I’m just teaching her a lesson; touch my family and I will make her pay.”
“Sorry Marga, but I can’t let this happen. Cassie’s not the only one who would get hurt here. You will too.”
Marga rolled her eyes and looked away. Romina and Bonita finally saw the new products released by Tita Sardines, and it was far different from the ones they had proposed in the fake file.
Mina then asked the kind of products Daniela’s team was proposing and Bonita told her she hadn’t been able to find out since they always had their meetings behind closed doors and all Daniela’s teammates refused to talk.
“Could we be wrong about Daniela?” Bonita asked. “Maybe she’s really innocent and there’s someone else in the company who did it.”
“But who could it be?”
At the new Bartolome residence, Daniela boasted to Savannah about how she was always one step ahead of Romina. She told Savannah that she had given Mr. Louie her own proposal to keep Romina from catching her.
Savannah gave her a clap offering. “You never fail to amaze me, Danny girl.”
Myrna came over and Daniela asked what she wanted. Mryna told her she had spoken with Carlos and he knew why she was there.
“Hmmm, okay.” Daniela went through her bag, took out an envelope and handed it to her.
Myrna checked the envelope and told Daniela that it wasn’t enough, explaining that Carlos had said he would be giving her 10,000 pesos for her treatment.
“Oh, should all that be coming from Carlos?” Danny girl said. “Shouldn’t Jude and Gino be contributing too?”
“It doesn’t surprise me why people don’t like you,” Mryna criticized. “Even your own family can’t ask help from you. Thankfully, Romina’s not like you. We just met, but she already helped me.”
Danny girl had her k!ller face on. “Romina?”
“That’s right. I should be going. I just hope you spend my son’s money on something important.”
Marga told her new squad that she would definitely win the Maxwell Prime. They asked how she would be able to do that since Cassie was the star in the play which would end her big points. Marga told them she wouldn’t back down without a fight.
“And if I do go down, I will drag her down with me.”
Cassie stood by her locker. She stared at her hand and had a flashback of how Kristoff had held it during the rehearsal. Cassie smiled, still staring at her hand. “Weird,” she said to herself.
Fatima and LJ came along. “Cassie…”
Cassie dropped her hand quickly. “Huh?”
“What’s weird?”
“Nothing.”
“Are you okay?” LJ asked.
“Of course I am.”
“We thought something happened to you earlier,” Fatima said. “You just left like that. Did you eat something bad?”
“Am fine. I just needed to use the lady’s room.”
LJ smiled. “Really?”
“Yeah.”
Kristoff was walking towards them, smiling. Cassie stared at him like she was in some kind of trance, her eyes unblinking.
“Cassie, are you okay?” Kristoff asked.
“Huh? Why?”
“You left rehearsal pretty fast.”
“Oh, I just needed to use the restroom.”
“Oh, okay. I see. You had a second round, right?”
“Kristoff.”
Kristoff laughed. “Just kidding. Lighten up.”
“I didn’t go a second round,” Cassie murmured.
“But are you alright?”
“Am fine.”
“Be honest. Was it a success?”
Cassie smacked him. “Will you quit it?”
Kristoff laughed and Cassie turned to glance at her friends. Fatima, who had been laughing silently at Cassie’s expense, looked away.
Carlos went to Primarosa to resign. His boss tried to convince him to stay, saying that he would still have hired him had Robert not recommended him.
“For what post sir?”
“It’s a little below your current position – inspector officer.”
“I’ll take it.”
The boss then looked up and saw a young woman approaching. “Mrs. Latienza,” he said, standing up to greet her.
“You don’t even look surprised to see me,” the woman said.
“You know me. I could smell your perfume from a mile away. I knew you were here the moment you stepped in.”
Mrs. Latienza was smiling, checking out Carlos. From toe. To head. She reached out her hand. “And he is?”
“Carlos Bartolome,” the boss introduced.
Carlos stood up.
“You just arrived at the right time. From now on, he’s going to assist you.”
Mrs. Latienza was all smiles at Carlos. “Really? Nice to meet you Mr. Bartolome.” Carlos shook her hand and she pulled him closer for a hug.
Carlos glanced at the boss nervously. “Same here, Mrs. Latienza.”
While Robert was in Romina’s office, Daniela stormed in and ranted on and on about Mina interfering in her family’s business by giving Myrna some money.
“What I gave Mrs. Myrna was not financial help,” Mina stated. “And it’s not my fault being charitable is hard for you.”
“Are you really defending what you did? It seems dad has no idea what you’re doing.”
“Daniela, can you please just stop it?” Robert said. “Enough.”
“Am just looking out for you dad. Because the puppy you once took care of is a vicious dog now. A big. Nasty. Rabid. Bįtçh. Am just worried she might suddenly bite you, dad.”
After Daniela left, Robert told Mina that she should have informed him first before giving out money to Myrna since he knew the best doctors who could help her out. Mina told him it had slipped her mind and the money she had given to Myrna wasn’t that much, and she didn’t know Daniela would make a big deal out of it.
“Is there something else you haven’t told me yet?” Robert asked.
Mina was silence for a while. “Where is this conversation going?”
“Am just confused,” Robert began. “You said you were… done with him. Meaning, distant. Done. Over. But now, you’re the one who approached his family.”
Mina stare at him in disbelief.
“I don’t have to tell you not to do that because you already know,” Robert added.
“Is that really what you think of me? Fine. For your peace of mind, I won’t help her again. But because of this, you’ve shown me that you’re losing your trust in me.” An angry look on her face, Mina looked away and went back to work.
