“I pity you, Daniela. You’re such a sad person. You’re bound by a golden chain, but your heart is made of coal.”
Romina looked at some wedding photos of Robert and Camila. The wedding organizer she had come to meet came in and asked if she wanted a wedding as grand as Camila’s or even much better. Romina said she wanted a simple wedding and the woman said that Robert had told her earlier to make the wedding special and give her everything she wanted. Romina said she wanted it to be special but not too costly, insisting that she have a simple wedding.
The woman didn’t seem happy with that. She told Romina that they didn’t do simple weddings, adding that she would need her assistance since this would be the first simple wedding they would ever organize. She excused herself and resorted to gossiping about Romina with her colleague who told her that Robert’s new fiancée was nothing like Camila and she didn’t suit Robert at all.
Robert came in and the woman told him that Romina had said she wanted a simple wedding but since he was a Mondragon, she asked whether he would add a touch of luxury. Robert said that the wedding wasn’t about her but his future wife to be, and he wanted her to be happy and get whatever she wanted. Later on, Robert picked a church for the wedding and they made arrangements for the food.
Romina didn’t want anything international. She wanted simple Filipino food. She later chose a white rose bouquet and the organizer said that was the cheapest. Robert jumped in and said that he also liked the white roses because it suited her. The organizer didn’t seem that pleased at that. Later, Romina came to see the bridal designer and the guy took some measurements.
Daniela was present and like always, she mocked Romina, saying that her father had chosen this designer because he wanted her to look as expensive as his equal, of which she was not. Clearly not in the mood for her antics, Romina excused herself to use the washroom. When she left, the designer told Daniela that it wouldn’t be hard to design for Romina since she had a great figure and a løvely face. He went on to ask if the two of them were of the same age.
“Maybe, but not of the same class,” Daniela said.
The designer commented, saying that it was so harsh to say that and Daniela just smiled. At the Mondragon mansion, Esther (the nanny) voiced out her fears to Robert, telling him that he and her daughter’s relationship would be in total shambles if he went ahead to marry Romina. Robert told her that he had already decided to marry her and he hoped that one day, both his family and Romina’s would be together.
Robert met with some of his friends and associates to celebrate. One of them, who was very drunk began passing insensitive comments. He even had the guts to ask if Romina was that good in bed. Robert almost went at him but he was held back by his friend as the very drunk guy was saying that he was only joking as he was escorted out.
The bridal designer had finished his work – Romina came out in her brand new snow-white gown as the designer began to sing praises onto her. When the designer asked how Romina looked, Daniela ignored the question and asked where the veil was. He left to go get it. A woman then brought Daniela a glass of wine.
“Romina,” Daniela began. “You look… perfect,” she finished, pouring the red wine onto her dress.
Romina asked why she had to do that and Daniela said she was just keeping her promise of making her and her child’s life a living hell.
“What are you going to do about it,” Daniela said. ” Are you going to tell Dad? Are you going to ruin our relationship? Go ahead, you’re just his second wife. I am his daughter, and I won’t allow you to take what is rightfully mine.”
“I pity you, Daniela,” Romina said, standing up to her, not showing a single hint of fear. “The only thing you ever care about is your wealth, because it’s the only thing you’re proud of, but the truth is, you’re a sad person.”
Daniela told Romina that she was just a replacement for her mother and she didn’t want her dirty self being mingled with her family. Romina said she didn’t want any part in the money ; she would rather remain poor than to walk over everyone the way she does. “You’re such a sad person, you don’t want the people around you to be happy,” she added. “You’re bound by a golden chain, but your heart is made of coal.”
Romina later told Robert that she couldn’t wear the gown. Robert, thinking the worst, asked what Daniela had done now and Romina dodged the question, saying that Daniela had said that she would never accept her and ruin her life as long as they were together.
Robert said he would handle her and Romina said she didn’t want to drag her child into all the trouble. She asked if they should go along with the wedding since everyone thought she wasn’t good enough for him.
Robert asked Romina if she didn’t lövê him anymore and Romina said she still did but that alone wasn’t enough. She said that they lōvêd each other but then, how long would they have to fight?
“If it’s too much for you, then let’s end it,” Robert said to her.
On the pretence of taking Romina along to see her blind date, Bonita took Romina to where Robert was waiting fully dressed with Cassandra and a few others. Robert told her that he would never give up on her. Romina was crying now – she thought Robert didn’t want her anymore and Robert said he did give up.
“I gave up on the idea of having a grand wedding. We’ll do it your way. Simple, and surrounded by only the ones you lövê the most. Just the two of us.”
Robert then asked Romina to marry him and she accepted. They had the wedding in a ship and Romina was now Mrs. Romina Andrada Mondragon. At the Mondragon mansion, preparations were made for Romina and her family’s arrival. Esther was worried that Daniela wouldn’t take it so well and their relationship would break all the more and Robert told her not to worry.
Romina and her family arrived at the Mondragon mansion and got settled in. Meanwhile, Daniela told her unborn child that he/she would be the one to fix things between her and her dad. She told Carlos that she had to get her inheritance from her father to settle her debt.
Robert took Romina on a tour around the huge mansion. She later on went to the kitchen to learn some cooking skills. Esther, who still didn’t seem pleased with her presence asked her to leave because Robert might be looking for her.
Daniela walked into the Mondragon mansion. She was very pissed off that her father had brought Romina to their home. She asked why he had done so and Robert told her that he was married to Romina. Daniela then began hailing insults at Romina and even her daughter and Romina said that she could insult her all she wanted but if she dragged her daughter into it, then she would get what she was looking for. Daniela tried to go after her but Robert told her to stop.
“You’re acting like a child,” he said to her. “I didn’t raise you to be a spoilt brat throwing tantrums everywhere you go.”
Daniela said that Robert had never been a father to her and now he was going to be the father of someone else’s child. She said she wanted Romina out of there and Robert said that it was his house and his rules.
“If you can’t respect the people in this house, then you can’t, and won’t live here,” Robert declared.
Robert then told her that she could go and live in his second house. He walked off with Romina as Daniela continued making a scene, asking her father to give her her inheritance and he wouldn’t see her face again after that. Daniela had to be taken to the hospital after she felt some pain in her belly. She was still throwing tantrums like a spoiled child, telling her father that she would never forgive him if anything bad happened to her baby.
Daniela woke up to see Carlos at her bedside. She was frantic, asking where her baby was. Carlos tried to convince her that their baby was fine. The doctor then came in and said that her baby was fine and at the nursery but since she had given birth prematurely, it had to be put in an incubator. Daniela was still inconsolable, asking to see her baby. Carlos took her to see the baby and we learned that her name is Marga (Margaret).
Robert came there and Carlos asked him to leave so his wife could rest. Daniela began her verbal abuse again, blaming her father for her daughter’s condition. She told him that they didn’t need him anymore and he could rot in hell for all she cared about.
A few years later, Daniela, Carlos and Marga had dinner at a restaurant. Marga had her eyes on some toys and as she kept on insisting that she have it, Daniela then got it for her. Carlos noticed that Romina and her daughter, Cassie, were also eating in the same place.
Romina was at a boutique where Robert had put it on lockdown so she could buy some clothes for Cassie. Daniela came there and barged in with her bratty friend. She made fun of Romina and insulted her with the shop she had set up which sold secondhand goods.
Before leaving the place, Romina told her that at least she wasn’t like her who always wanted to buy things to show off how expensive she was. Daniela’s bratty friend gave her a look, surprised that Daniela had let Romina have the last say.
