“Are you afraid of the way your husband might react? The secret that only you and I know about. Why can’t you just admit it, that maybe your marriage isn’t so perfect after all?”
Rica finds the house deserted and a handwritten note her mother had left her. She recalls how her sister had lamented over being the one who faces “those āwful people” talking behind her back. Against better judgement, Rica decides to head out. With her head down, she fails to spot Kyle as he drives by her on the street.
Kyle arrives at his company with Chino, a friend of his in tow. He assigns him his office and thanks him for leaving such a good position in Manila to join him despite all the uncertainties. Stating that it was their plan since college to build their own company, Chino assures him that he’ll support his vision to the end.
Karla meets up with Troy in a park somewhere. For having turned her daughter into a liar, she greets him with a släp and Troy points out that her daughter was just being realistic, adding that she had only done that because she knew she (Karla) needed help. “It is something that you are unable to accept because you can’t set aside your pride,” Troy grumbles.
“You have no right to meddle in our family’s affairs,” Karla shöōts back. “And you most definitely do not have the right to tell other people the only secret that I asked you to keep. And you promised to keep that secret.”
“I only told attorney Dizon your secret because Bobby will most likely find out about it, and end up using it against you.”
Troy assures Karla that she had hired attorney Dizon in the first place because she can trust her. However, Karla criticizes him for getting involved in her family issues without talking to her first and asking for her permission, and also for teaching her daughter how to lie.
Admitting that it was wrong of him to use her daughter that way, Troy states that Karla hadn’t given him a choice. He points out that he’s not the enemy, then asks what she’s so afraid of. He asks if she’s afraid that her family will know, and when Karla remains silent, Troy mentions her husband and realizes that he (Dan) still doesn’t know her secret.
“So why don’t you tell your husband?” Troy asks as Karla gives him a defiant look. “Are you afraid of the way your husband might react?”
Karla remains silent, staring back grudgingly.
“Why can’t you tell him then?”
“I am not afraid,” Karla declares.
“Really?”
“Dan will understand it. He’s going to understand because he loves me and accepts me for who I am.”
Troy makes a face. “If what you’re saying is true, then you would have already told him about the secret that only you and I know about. Why can’t you just admit it, that maybe your marriage isn’t so perfect after all?”
“Whether perfect or not, it’s none of your business!” Karla snaps, giving Troy the once-over. “Come near Bea again…”
Dan parks his motorbike somewhere near the park and ultimately spots his wife standing with Troy. As he looks on in disbelief, his hand clenches into a fist. Meanwhile, Rica walks around a market and strives to conceal her face as she goes. Back at the park, Dan gets back on his motorbike and drives away angrily.
Karla tells Troy that they’re going to get a new lawyer to replace attorney Laura Dizon. Exasperated, Troy informs her of the repercussions her decision would have on Rica’s case. Troy notes the big discount attorney Dizon had given to her family as a favor to him, stating that she would never find another lawyer like her again.
Karla sighs. “I have made my decision,” she says before walking away. Troy holds her back and pleads with her to hear him out. “I am begging you, Karla. Do not do this. For our daughter’s sake. Just think of Rica.”
Karla sobs for a while, glances at Troy for a moment before carrying on. At home, Pogs tells Bea of his deal with her dad to teach him how to make furniture while he helps out at the shop. Upon her arrival home, Karla confronts Bea over how she had lied about attorney Dizon.
Bea apologizes profusely and tries to explain her reasons, only for them to realize that Rica is nowhere to be found. Speaking of, Rica stands on the very spot she had encountered Kyle before. A phone call comes in from her mother but she isn’t able to pick up as the phone’s battery runs down.
Rica reflects on her encounter with Kyle. She finds a sketchy drawing of herself on the wall that seems to cheer her up. Meanwhile, irresponsible half-sister Raven runs into Kyle at a food and beverage restaurant. Turns out that they both know each other from high school. After a little catching up, Raven proceeds to see the person she had come there for.
Troy sees the video of his daughter defending her shāmelëss cousin Jigs. Upset, he confronts Audrey about it and all she has to say is that her daughter has finally decided to take her family’s side. Troy states that she’s going against her own sister and Audrey retorts, saying that Jigs is her only family.
“Sometimes I can’t help but wonder,” Troy mutters. “If you’re really doing this to help Jigs, or if you just want to pūnish Karla!” Audrey’s facial expression turns acidic. “Never say that woman’s name in my house again!!!” And with that, she storms off as Troy looks on in awe.
Nico complains about their burnt dinner at the dining table, and Pogs, being an obvious admirer of Bea, plays it cool even after having a taste. He urges Bea to eat and Nico tells him not to mind her too much, saying that she doesn’t have an appetite because she’s worried sick and knows she would get a scolding from their parents later.
Bea scowls at her brother, even as he says that she deserves the inevitable scolding for working with their enemies. Nico speculates that the mayor might have sent attorney Dizon so she could spy on them, adding that she could be giving them the wrong advice so they would lose. Bea then reflects on her encounter with Troy.
“He wouldn’t do that. He’s Rica’s father.”
“But he’s also the uncle of Rica’s rāpīst, right? So how are you sure that he’s on our side?”
“Hey, you’re talking to your older sister,” Pogs admonishes.
Bea points a finger. “Hey…why are you still even here?”
“My brother-in-law said that I could stay for dinner,” Pogs says.
Bea makes a face. “In-law?”
“Yeah,” Nico confirms. “You’ll end up together, right?” Nico teases. He then fist bumps Pogs and both boys laugh.
Annoyed, Bea threatens to pour her cup of tea on them if they don’t quit messing with her. Nevertheless, Nico advises her to drink the tea so she can relax a bit before she gets scolded. Outside, Karla worries about the whereabouts of Rica and Dan asks her why she had left the house earlier.
Painstakingly, Karla brings up how Bea had told them that she knew about attorney Dizon through a friend. She reveals that it was all a lie and makes known the fact that attorney Dizon is a friend of Troys, the one who had convinced Bea to recommend that lawyer to them.
Dan scoffs. “That explains a lot.”
“What do you mean by that, lôvë?”
“Nothing. I just happened to see you and Troy talking earlier.”
