Showbiz Career
Coco Martin started his showbiz career in 2001 as part of ABS-CBN’s Star Circle Batch 9 together with the likes of Heart Evangelista, Hazel Ann Mendoza, and Alwyn Uytingco. His career did not take off so he took odd jobs including working in a restaurant. In 2004, German Moreno admitted him to be one of the stars in his night time show Walang Tulugan.
The following year, Coco was discovered by Director Brillante Mendoza and gave him a leading role in the indie film Masahista. The success of Masahista and his subsequent indie films caught the eyes of ABS-CBN’s big shots and once again, Coco reentered the network’s ground.
Since then, it was success after success for Coco. In 2015, the network rolled out FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano (Brothers) top-billed by Coco. It’s huge success has cemented Coco Martin’s reputation as the “King of Philippine Television”.
